AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE, BEING KENYAN IS NOT AN OPTION GUYS

For the last 6 months, we have been treated to lot of vitriol, hate and too much venom all in the pretext of campaigns and God knows what. The mainstream media has always done what it does best . Screaming the bad news and sweeping the good news under the table .This country elevates negative conversations too much at the expense any other news item .But then again , I am reminded that  an unwritten rule has it that bad news is good news to the media .
Politicians in this country have perfected the art of dividing Kenyans on tribal lines not for anything good but just for their sake. I have travelled in this country in my various personal engagements and I can authoritatively say that this country is seriously divided. Of much concern to me is the fact that we are not differing on any issue based discussion rather on the spellings of our second names . Sad, right? I am glad you kinda agree.

As Bishop Oginde put it aptly in one of his sermons, we are now facing a danger of living in dichotomy. Under this , every conversation , position is always skewed into a Jubilee versus Nasa narrative. In fact , even preachers and churches have plunged themselves into this madness . My friends, there can’t be just two opinions in this country .
When cholera outbreak was reported allegedly at Weston hotel , jubilee supporters blamed it on Nasa leadership while Nasa supporters blamed it on the Dp . Then Larry gave us an example of Sigiri bridge collapse . Nasa supporters blamed the government while jubelee supporters blamed Nasa leadership . Our divided conversations have so much deepened to the extent that when fire was reported at Moi Girls high school, for a moment , murmurs went on . Narratives were created to the effect that it was even a Jubelee vs Nasa affair. Too sad for a country that has diversity as its proud narratives.
One thing is for sure , we have lost a chance to unite this country mainly through petty politicking and sideshows.
Our media houses have even joined the bandwagon. They have started trying as hard to sort of appear not to tell the truth but sort of to ‘neutral’.
Then came David Ndii the economist. He claimed that we should consider secession. For me that caught me unawares.  Before dust settled on that interview, the two main political machinations begun a conversation on the same.
Sometimes I ask myself if it’s just about ‘our own’ occupying the house in the hill. I thought it’s much more than that. I am a very staunch supporter of devolution. I had always hoped that this will reduce the friction we normally have after five years.
The judiciary on the other hand is very interesting. Imagine we have a judiciary which can invalidate an election on account of technicalities yet at the same time fail to tame the perennial hate mongers in this country
The wars on the social media scene have it all. Kenyans engage daily in a dirty conversation which is more insults and less of content. Their opinions are as predictable as their second names haha which brings me to a very pertinent question, just what will it take to unite this country? Just what will it take to have an issue based campaigns in this country?

We have had prayers before, we still petition God to do something about our lovely country. However, how about if we accompany all these with actions? I think we can.  And just what I keep saying, Nehemiah not only prayed for the wall in Jerusalem, he went there, became part of those rebuilding it.
. LETS UNITE OUR COUNTRY .Shall we?
